On 4 December at 20:00 the Garage Bookshop will host an audience with Damon Murray – designer, publisher and founder of the FUEL Design and Publishing agency based in London. For many years, Damon Murray has been fascinated by the subject of Soviet criminal tattoos, and FUEL has purchased nearly 1000 sketches and drawings by Danzig Baldaev, the renowned collector and expert on Soviet criminal tattoos, as well as hundreds of photographs by Arkady Bronnikov and Sergey Vasiliev. The result is the unique book series Russian Criminal Tattoos and Russian Criminal Playing Cards. The theme of the Soviet Union has been continued in a series of books on the design of Soviet-era bus-stops, alcohol, cooking, holiday destination architecture and space symbolism.
The evening will be held in English with non-synchronous translation. Places are limited.
